My friend
who is really into a computer programming language called "Python"
particpates in an annual contest for Python developers called
"PyWeek". The purpose of the contest to award the
best game design to development teams based on a theme that
is revealed only at the start of the contest and each team only
has a week to develop the entire game. I was asked by my friend
to see if I could come up with sprites for this game which would
perform much like a "Double Dragon" type brawler or
beat'um up style game. The main character had the ability to
perform special attacks and could vanish at will and suprise
attack his enemies. The theme for this project was "Vanish"
or "Dissapear", I can't quite remember. lol
Having never designed custom-made character
sprites and with only one week to learn how, I decided to rip
several sprites from various NES games using a scree capture
tool and used the skeletal framework for each one of the sprite
character animation frames to design original sprites.
Unfortunately we weren't able to finish
the game in time for the submission, but it definitely gave
me at least a little experience working alongside programmers
and attempting to develop artistic content for whatever was
needed. |
