| TITLE:
Nuclear War |
MEDIUM:
Tissue Paper, Plastic Soldiers, String, Fire |
| A sculpture
I did for a 3-D Design class depicting the outcome of what will
happen if and when the world decides to enter into nuclear warfare.
War is one thing, but a nuclear war is something that I don't
think the world can recover from if we enter into such a conflict.
In the sculpture, the tissue paper (purchased from Hallmark of
all places) has been constructed to make a nuclear mushroom cloud
and I went to the trouble of sitting various pieces of it on fire
and quickly blowing the fire out before it could ignite the entire
sheet as to get a genuine effect of fire in the blast. Surrounding
the tissue paper are a group of plastic toy soldiers that are
strung together with red and yellow yarn that represent a body
count. The fact that there are two different colors of toy soldiers
should indicate that it isn't just one side that is affected by
the bomb, but rather that both sides have been wiped out. |
