The Golden Years |
MEDIUM:
NES + Accessories, Gold Spraypaint, Cardboard |
| This was
a digital media project that I worked on at the request of another
student who enjoyed painting non-gold objects completely gold.
Since the NES is more than 20 years old now and many of us share
so many fond and nostalgic memories of the games we used to play
on this system, our sense of the NES in every regard is to classify
it as a legendary system. How fitting it is that one of the most
popular game franchises to come out of the NES library is the
Legend of Zelda series which ironicially enough had gold plated
cartridges for the first two games. This gave me the idea of carrying
the process a step further and making the project have a Zelda-esque
theme to it. The result was a completely gold plated set of the
original NES, controllers, connectors and AC, color television
and two of the original gold plated Zelda cartridges. I also thought
it would be interesting if there were a triforce on the television
screen that would be lighted only by the back light of the CRT
projected image inside of the television.
Funny thing was is that you can play the game still as you
can see link in the three provided windows, are able to see
areas that need to be bombed as well as your equipped items,
it's only a lot more challenging this time around.
