This
was a little side editing project I was commissioned to do for
a group called the BS Zelda Homepage. Their focus was to create
an "official looking" artwork piece for a Zelda game
that existed only in Japan via a short-lived specialized satellite
network system called the Satellaview. Apparently people living
in Japan during this time could sign on to play a direct sequel
the Super Nintendo Zelda: A Link to the Past that has all new
dungeons and time-attack challenges. Instead of playing as Link
you played as the green-haired, baseball cap wearing BS Satellaview
Mascot.
For this project I was asked to design
a cover art for the game that consisted of editing previously
existing Zelda artwork into something completely new for to
commemorate the release of the final patch of the emulated game,
which took about 2-3 years for this group to work on and complete.
I'm pretty satisfied with how I edited the left arm, head and
tiara on Zelda to make a completely different image of her fit
together with the body/rightarm of her princess outfit. This
image of Zelda did not exist before this project started. As
far as it is known, no official artwork was ever concieved for
the game's initial release in Japan, so this is about as close
as one would get. |
