Bouncy Metroid |

Flash, Adobe Photoshop |
| This was
my first Flash project that I created for a digital media class.
It was with this project that I learned that Flash can be fun,
but it can also be a real unforgiving program to mess with. The
theme of the project was "Bouncy" and I decided to run
with that theme a bit a develop various scenarios involving my
childhood passion for the Metroid series as the main character
of that franchise, Samus, can not only jump, but bounce off of
walls, turn into a ball, bounce while in the ball and use carefully
placed and well timed explosives (which bounce as well) in order
to propel herself in the air. This was quite the challenge I took
on considering all of the mechanics that had to be figured out
with how Flash works and how the animation should look. I started
this project right around the time I bought a Wacom drawing tablet
and I drew all of the animation by hand. In hindsight, in lieu
of what the professor was asking for in the Bouncy project, the
bouncy metroid project wasn't quite as bouncy as it could have
been, but due to time constraints, what you see now is what was
finished. I would like to one day go back in and finish the animation
to be the same length of the Brinstar remix song which Stemage
was gracious enough to allow me to use for this project. Other
themes I might explore during this extension are other game elements
such as "Pong" and "Pinball" similar to Metroid
Prime Pinball for the Nintendo DS. |
